Dear Hiring Manager at NASA,
I write to express my interest in entry-level ASL-English interpreting opportunities with your organization. I recently completed the Interpreter Training Program and earned a Deaf Studies degree at College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita; during this process I developed foundational interpreting abilities, my receptive and productive ASL skills, and my knowledge of the Deaf community. Through volunteer work guiding educational tours at the William S. Hart Museum in ASL, I have also gained experience helping facilitate communication in public and educational settings.
I currently work as a cybersecurity compliance analyst supporting I.T. deployment operations for the country's largest public utility focusing on virtual machine golden image pipelines, CIS and NIST compliance, Linux, and computer networking. My background has strengthened skills that I believe directly support interpreting work: preparation, professionalism, situational awareness, and the ability to work cooperatively in team settings. Colleagues describe me as detail-oriented, analytical, dependable, thoughtful in communication, and a little bit weird.
As I transition into the interpreting field, I am eager to continue maturing under experienced professionals as I contribute my own mature professional experience, diligence, and excitement to my work. I would be honored to have the opportunity to discuss how I could support your team. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Cameron Kemper
